Bank plans `zero balance' accounts

KURNOOL: Andhra Pragati Bank would open "zero balance" savings bank accounts in a big way. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Regional Manager P. Adinarayana Reddy said after merger of Rayalaseema Grameena Bank and other rural banks, Pragati Bank emerged as the second largest rural bank in the public sector in the country.

He said 600 zero balance accounts were opened in branches in Kurnool district so far. The account holders need not maintain minimum balance and in fact no amount is required to open an account.
