"Kattipudi vaithyam" comes in handy for him

Krishnan gives a hair-cut and a shave for the unfortunate human beings

The good work done by Krishnan of Akshaya Trust in the city is by now well known. Besides feeding over 100 wandering lunatics three times a day, Mr. Krishnan is also involved in getting them rehabilitated in a meaningful way.

He gives a hair-cut and a shave for the unfortunate human beings left to rot on Madurai streets by their relatives. Mr. Krishnan spent about four months in a hair-cutting salon.

But what is amazing about this youth who cooks and feeds homely food for the mentally disabled persons on the streets with a missionary zeal is his ability to cure a person of his illness without any medical treatment.

It was "kattipudi vaithyam" he saw in a popular Tamil movie that prompted him to help a resident of Melur come out of depression and schizophrenia. The cured person is now a committed volunteer in the `annadhanam mission.' Mr. Krishnan's narration of his experience with those who get his daily supply of food at a meeting of the Madurai Readers' Club on Sunday welled up tears in the eyes of listeners.
