Yakshagana artiste dead

Sheny Gopalakrishna Bhatt
Kasaragod:
Yakshagana exponent Sheny Gopalakrishna Bhatt died at a private hospital here on Tuesday. He was 88.
Mr. Bhatt, who dedicated his life for the promotion of Yakshagana, had performed at over 1,000 venues. He was a recipient of several awards, including Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi Award, Karnataka State Government Award, Karnataka Folklore and Academy Award.
Mr. Bhatt is known for his portrayal of epic characters like Vishnu, Sree Krishna, Bhishma and Bappa Byari. He was trained by Perdala Krishnayya, Darbe Narayana Shastri, Changuli Subbaraya Shastri, K.P. Vengappa Shetty and Vishnu Bhatt.
