Mrudula wins cadet girls' title

Hyderabad: M. Mrudula of Vijayawada defeated Zeba Arshiya of Anantapur 12-10, 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-4 in the cadet girls' final of the State ranking table tennis tournament organised by Gujarati Seva Mandal here on Tuesday.

Pranav triumphs

K. Pranav of Chirec Public School won the title in the boys below fifth standard category of the One Goal Chess Academy sub-juniors chess tournament here.

St. Joseph's in final

St. Joseph's Public School (Habsiguda) defeated St. Antony's High School 30-17 to enter the final of the inter-school basketball tournament (under-15) here. Pavithra (11) was the topscorer for the winner while Yeshwanthi (10) put up a good show for the loser.

Wrestling meet

The Ba Hameed Kesari memorial Indian style wrestling championship will be held from August 3 to 6 at CRPF Playground (Barkas) in nine weight categories. The winner in the kesari weight (82kg to 120kg) will collect Rs.1 lakh and the runner-up Rs.50,000. There will be special cash prizes in the other weight categories with the winner getting Rs.5,000, the runner-up Rs.3,000 and the third-placed Rs.2,000. Contact 9246524061.

Jameel, Ravi bag gold

Jameel Khan and Ravi Kiran, both from Andhra Pradesh, bagged a gold each representing India in the 2006 World scholar athletics meet in United States.

Basketball trials

The Hyderabad District Basketball Association will organise selection trials on July 19 at 4.00 p.m. at YMCA Secunderabad to pick the District team for the Chief Minister's Cup sports meet to be held in Gachibowli from August 11 to 15. State open chess
