HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leadership has hinted that August will be a crucial month for the party when its top leaders are likely to take a decision on whether to continue in the Union Cabinet after Independence Day. TRS president and Union Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao on Tuesday reportedly dropped hints that he would announce the party's stand and its future course of action after August 15, if there was no positive response to its continued efforts for creation of a separate State.
Action plan
Mr. Rao was addressing a meeting here of the Telangana Jagarana Sena (TJS), which is expected to hold its maiden meeting in Warangal on August 12. The meeting, convened to review the arrangements, saw Mr. Rao and his Cabinet colleague A. Narendra referring to the last-ditch efforts the party intends to make in Delhi before announcing further action. The TRS chief is expected to leave for Delhi in a day or two. Mr. Rao was quoted as saying that he would meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister and UPA Sub-committee chairman on Telangana Pranab Mukherjee and others and urge them to expedite the process of Telangana. The Union Labour Minister reportedly said after the Warangal meeting -- which was likely to be attended by 1 lakh TRS and TJS cadres - that he would inaugurate the Telangana Bhavan, party headquarters, in Hyderabad on August 14. The next day senior party leaders would assemble in Delhi and try to meet important political leaders after which Mr. Rao is expected to announce the party's future course of action. Chief Commander of TJS K. Umakanth told reporters that already 40,000 TJS activists had been enrolled and the remaining 60,000 would join the outfit shortly.
