Sahaj holds Mamedov

NEW DELHI: World under-10 boys' champion Sahaj Grover registered the biggest result of his budding career when he drew with sixth- seeded International Master Azerbaijan's Nidjat Mamedov in the opening round of the 11th Balaguer International Open chess tournament at Balaguer, Spain, on Monday.

Grover, whose rating of 2024 is the lowest among the 11 Indians on view, became the cynosure after holding Mamedov, rated 2521.

Barring Abhyudaya Rajpurohit, who lost to third-seeded Ukrainian Vladimir Baklan, other Indians defeated their lowly-rated rivals.
