BKU holds rally, demands relief

Lucknow: In order to attract attention of the State Government towards problems faced by farmers, Bharatiya Kisan Union on Tuesday held farmers' panchayat here. Demanding compensation to farmers, who committed suicide after failing to pay off their loans, General Secretary, BKU, Harpal Singh alleged that the State Government was ignoring interest of farmers.

Thousands of farmers from all over the State had started gathering in the city for the panchayat since Monday night to attract attention of the State Government towards their problems. BKU office bearers later handed over a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to the additional district magistrate.
