JEYPORE : A review meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society, Koraput district, was held on Saturday. Indian Red Cross president and collector, Koraput unit, Shubha Sharma, was in the chair. The society has received Rs.24.60 lakh as revenue from various sources of which Rs.24 lakh have been spent on various social and medical programmes for the poor. The Collector advised the officials that more funds were needed to strengthen Red Cross' activities in the district. Red Cross and district level officials attended the meeting.
Two girls drowned
Two girls - Kalpana Ulka (5) and P. Sandhya Rani (6) were allegedly drowned while bathing in a river near Ramanaguda village in Rayagada district on Saturday. Locals have traced the body of Sandhya Rani but Kalpana's body is yet to be found.
