CHENNAI: Stars are not born, they are found. An audition conducted at Christ Church School on Anna Salai on Tuesday for `Star Hunt' on behalf of Rin Advanced White proved it.

Every one of the 50 participants, belonging to classes one to ninth, had a hidden talent. What was astonishing was the confidence of the children in showcasing their talent. Though most of them restricted themselves to singing, they managed to win a round of applause from their classmates.

A few stood apart with their distinctive performances. While a boy from seventh class mimicked animals like cat and dinosaur in the given time slot, a few girls brought out their best in dance in their one-minute performance.

Gayathri Lakshmi of sixth class emerged winner of the audition whose confidence level and dance style won her the representation to city finals.

Other participants were provided with consolation gifts and certificates. Christ Church School was one of the 150 schools being auditioned for city finals.

Students of Valliammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Anna Nagar, CSI Bain School at Kilpauk and Venugopal Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Choolaimedu also underwent similar auditions on the same day.

About 150 children will be chosen from the schools to participate in the city finals to be held between August 6 and 8. The winner from Chennai will participate in the national finals to compete with toppers from across the country in August end for the Rs.5 lakh scholarship to support their education or pursue their goals as artistes.
