VIJAYAWADA: Lok Ayukta R. Ramanujam has asked the district administration to submit a report as to what necessitated the proposal to widen Bandar Road to 100 ft instead of 80 ft in the first phase. At a camp court here on Tuesday, Justice Ramanujam heard 19 cases and complaints submitted by the public. He questioned the district officials as to why Bandar Road was being widened to 100 ft while it was limited to only 80 ft with regard to Eluru Road. He ordered District Revenue Officer Sundara Raju to submit a report by the time next hearing would be held.
Pollution
Justice Ramanujam also heard a case filed by one P. Subba Raju raising concerns about pollution of the Bandar, Eluru and Ryves canals. Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation N. Gulzar said that drainage works at a cost of Rs. 10 crores were taken up at different parts of the city.
Drainage
The city generates 100 million litres drainage every day and treatment plants are located at Ajitsinghnagar, Ramalingeswaranagar, Autonagar and Purnandampet.
