BANGALORE: H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, has said he will give Rs. 10 lakh from MP's Local Area Fund to the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka (AWAKE). He was participating in the valedictory function of the 4th State level women entrepreneurs conference held here on Tuesday. Minister for Science and Technology Ramachandra Gowda and Narendra Babu, MLA of Rajajinagar constituency were present. Mr. Gowda agreed to consider the AWAKE's request for an exclusive food process centre for women entrepreneurs at Vijayapur. An exhibition of handicrafts, food products, garments and jewellery by women entrepreneurs from the State was held as part of the two-day exhibition. Nearly 150 stalls were put up by women from various units such as self-help groups and tribal areas. AWAKE's training chairperson Uma Reddy said that women from rural and urban areas were given an opportunity to exhibit their products and to learn about the new options in trade. Business counselling, skill training and entrepreneurship development programmes were conducted as part of the conference. The association is planning to hold such programmes in various regions of the State.
