Another bid to rob bank in city

Manager of SBM, Singasandra branch, files complaint with police

BANGALORE: Following the incident of an attempt to loot Central Bank of India's J.C. Road branch on Sunday night, another similar incident has come to light on Tuesday.

A complaint has been filed by the manager of State Bank of Mysore, Singasandra branch, that some thieves had entered the bank by cutting open the ventilator grill on Sunday night. Dinesh Patil, the manager, said the intruders could not lay their hands on the cash.

Body found

A badly burnt body of a 30-year-old man, suspected to have been murdered, was found near Anchepalya gate in Kudur Police station limits on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the victim's body bore stab wounds on the stomach and chest.

A passerby noticed the body in the morning and informed the police.

The police have kept the body in Victoria Hospital.

Women robbed

Motorcycle borne men relieved two women of their chains and other valuables in separate incidents reported in the city on Monday.

Munichannamma (60) of Kodigehalli was relieved of her gold chain worth Rs. 70,000 when she was returning with his sister, Ashawatamma, from shopping. The incident occurred on Railway Parallel Road in Yelahanka police station limits.

Radika Jain, a management student, was relieved of Rs. 1,500 and a mobile phone in Vasanta Nagar 2nd Cross.

The miscreants hit her on the back of her head before snatching her purse containing cash, mobile phone and some documents.

Arrested

The Ashok Nagar police have arrested a 40-year-old insurance agent on charges of taking the photograph of a woman.

According to police, Sandeep Digri, the accused, who stayed as a paying guest on Residency Road, allegedly took the picture of a woman while she was in the bathroom.

The woman lodged a complaint with the police leading to his arrest.

Killed

A 55-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus while crossing the road near Mosque Circle in Frazer Town traffic police station limits on Monday night, police said.

The police have seized the vechicle and arrested the driver..
