BANGALORE:
The 515 Army Base Workshop Kannada Literature and Cultural Forum has urged the chairman of Kannada Development Authority Siddalingaiah to strive for providing primacy for the language of the land in the Army Base Workshop and other central government establishments.
In a letter to Prof. Siddalingaiah, copies of which were released to the press, forum general secretary Samiulla Khan said central public sector undertakings in Karnataka were not bothered about the language of the land. A movement should begin with asking them to display the name boards in the three-language formula Kannada, Hindi and English.
He urged the authority to press for demands such as Kannada language question papers for labour department examinations and inclusion of State Government nominees in the selection committee of Bharat Electronics Limited and in the selection of Grade C and D Civilian selections conducted by the Defence Ministry. The vedike alleged that Deputy Director, Raja Bhasha Anushthana Samithi, had been acting as a spokesperson for Hindi language.
