According to the police, the accused, Sudhir, was arrested at Shivani Dharam Kanta in Ghaziabad on Monday. The police said Sudhir had lent Rs. 10,000 to his friend Pawan, a resident of Harsh Vihar in Nand Nagri. However, Pawan was not returning the money. Sudhir then decided to kill him. On Friday evening, Sudhir invited Pawan to a place in Ghaziabad where they consumed liquor together and then returned to Pawan's accommodation past midnight. Nabbed for graft
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Anti-Corruption) Bhairon Singh Gurjar, the Department received a complaint from one Rajesh Sharma alleging that an MTNL employee had been demanding Rs. 500 from him to re-activate his Garuda mobile phone connection. Mr. Sharma went to the Sub-Division Garuda Service Centre at the Shakti Nagar telephone exchange on July 15 for reactivation of his connection and deposited his mobile phone. But, a phone mechanic, later identified as Hari Singh, demanded Rs. 500 for the work. The Anti-Corruption Branch sleuths laid a trap and arrested Hari Singh and Anil Madan, who allegedly operated at the telephone exchange as a "tout", while they were receiving the bribe amount on Monday.
