This Day That Age
The talks among Prime Minister Nehru, Yugoslav President Tito and Egyptian President Nasser in Brioni on July 19 confirmed the "general identity of outlook on world problems" of the three statesmen. Informed sources said these talks were being conducted in broad general terms and hence no problem was being considered from the point of view of offering solutions to the world. Problems touched during the two-day discussions included changes in the Soviet Union, unrest in Algeria, disarmament and utilisation of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. An announcement said the three statesmen had a "friendly and open exchange of views on some topical problems of international relations." They met at a fishermen's hut on an islet in sight of President Tito's summer residence in Brioni. President Tito in white suit and straw hat, President Nasser in grey suit and hatless, and Mr. Nehru in brown achkan with a red rose in his buttonhole, then drove in a open car to watch a performance of Croatian folk dances. Earlier, Mr. Nehru was received by Marshal Tito and his wife when he arrived in the beautiful Adriatic island.
