YOUNG TALENT: Aysha Haleema with her `vichitra veena.'
At a time when there are few who are adept in handling the `vichitra veena,' Aysha Haleema has been receiving accolades for her renditions. Aysha's recitals go a long way in promoting communal harmony. Aysha has been giving recitals from the time she turned 11, at temple festivals during the `manadalam' observance, and also during the Ramzan month. She has also performed during the Swati Tirunal Festival, Thyagaraja Aradhana, Navarathri music programmes, Malabar Maholsavam, school youth festivals. Aysha is a plus one student of the St.Joseph's Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode. The kirtana `Sree ragokula... ' in Hamsadwani ragam in Aditala, and `Manasakotulu... ' in Malayamaarutham ragam in Roopakatala are rendered by her much to the appreciation of the audience. Her rendition of devotional songs such as `Koodajadriyil..,'`Oru neramengilum..,' and `Thedivarum kannugalil... ' also merits mention. `Puja Malar' a music album of her recitals is a popular devotional. She has been commended by various organisations. Aysha has also bagged prizes and trophies in classical music, Malayalam and Arabic recitation, Mappilappattu and mono act at different competitions. She secured the A+ grade in all the subjects, in the SSLC Examination conducted in 2006.
