Guidelines announced for filling vacant posts

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The State Government has come out with guidelines for preparing estimates of vacancies in government departments, following the lifting of the ban on recruitment.

Recruitments will be done for the following categories: posts within the purview of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission/Teachers Recruitment Board/Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, posts outside the purview of these agencies for which the Government is the appointing authority, posts outside the purview of the three agencies for which the Government is not the appointing authority, recruitments by promotion/transfer within a service and recruitment by transfer from one service to another, a release said.

The estimates of vacancies for all posts should be reassessed based on the need and may not exceed the actual vacancies during the relevant period of estimation of 12 months.

All estimates should be placed before the Staff Committee and communicated to the TNPSC or the relevant appointing authority.

Recruitments may be done by following regular procedures in phases over a period of one to two years by suitably earmarking vacancies.

The guidelines will come into force with immediate effect, the release said.
