Nitish trying to take credit for our work: Lalu

Special Correspondent

"He is on a pilgrimage, doing puja at places where we worked"

PATNA: Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was trying to take credit for work done by him and the former Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

Speaking to reporters here, he accused Mr. Kumar of removing a plaque carrying the name of Ms. Rabri Devi, who had laid the foundation stone for various projects, and of laying foundation stones carrying his own name.

"Mr. Kumar is on a pilgrimage and doing puja at the same places where we worked," Mr. Prasad said, referring to the Chief Minister's daylong programme in Chapra. He, however, said he would cooperate with the Chief Minister.

To a question on a show-cause issued to Janata Dal (U) MLAs Sunil Pandey and Cheddi Paswan, Mr. Prasad the party should have served a notice on Mr. Kumar for "roping in shady elements in his desperate bid" to become Chief Minister.

Mr. Pandey had taken exception to the treatment meted out to the former MP Anand Mohan Singh by the Patna police, while Mr. Paswan objected to the criticism of party leader George Fernandes by some functionaries.

Mr. Prasad said Mr. Kumar was unable to take action against party legislators who were taking the law into their own hands.
