KADAPA: The Government is expected to appoint a full-fledged Vice-Chancellor, Rector, Registrar, Deputy and Assistant Registrars for Yogi Vemana University by September-end and constitute an Executive Council in August, its incharge V-C S. Jayarama Reddy said on Wednesday. The university would strive to secure University Grants Commission recognition and set a record to become the first varsity to secure UGC grants in the first year of establishment, he asserted at a press conference here.
GO awaited
Government Orders transferring assets and liabilities of Sri Venkateswara University Post-Graduate Centre here to Yogi Vemana University was awaited. Moreover, change in roster system also delayed recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff, which would be completed by September-end by constituting an ad hoc Board of Studies, he said. The university proposed to establish a Centre for Rayalaseema Studies and a centre for job-oriented courses, in the fields of rural development, industry and agriculture this year, Prof. Jayarama Reddy said. Seven new PG courses -- microbiology, biochemistry, physics, English, economics, applied mathematics and Telugu studies - were started in 2005-06, he said. The university's thrust would be on inter-disciplinary and bridge courses and job-oriented programmes, he said.
