Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has imposed a complete ban on transfers of all categories in the School Education Department with immediate effect. The last date of general transfers in the department lapsed on June 30 so no transfer application would be entertained at any level, a spokesman of the department said here on Wednesday. He said a checking drive had been initiated by the department through special inspection teams to promote and ensure punctuality of teachers. Education Minister H S Johar asked the teaching faculty to concentrate their attention on educating schoolchildren and to cooperate and assist the department in achieving better results in the examinations. He directed all the block primary education officers and district education officers to personally visit the schools to check absenteeism of both teachers and students. PTI
