Accel Transmatic sets up animation studio

CHENNAI: The Chennai-based technology services company, Accel Transmatic, has set up an animation division to provide 2D, 3D animation, visual effects and gaming services for media companies in India and overseas. The production unit — Accel Animation Studios — will be set up with an initial investment of Rs. 2.5 crore and employ 50 animators. The number of animators will be increased to 100 by 2007 and to 300 by 2008 with a total investment of Rs. 10 crore. It is also setting up an animation academy to ensure availability of trained manpower for the venture, says a release.
