Weavers end lives

KARIMNAGAR: Two weavers committed suicide in Sircilla town on Wednesday due to increasing debts and unemployment. Reports said powerloom weaver J. Sudarshan (50) committed suicide by hanging himself. Dalit killed

KADAPA: A 23-year-old dalit youth Nagipogu Yanadaiah was allegedly killed by other dalits in Karempalle Arundhatiwada in Rajampet mandal on Tuesday night. Yanadaiah and Kathi Venkataiah had an altercation on Tuesday, according to the police. Venkataiah, five women and two men were allegedly involved in the killing. - Staff Reporter

5 constables suspended

12 hurt in clash

KURNOOL: Twelve persons were hurt following clashes between two groups in connection with panchayat elections at Nallvagupalli in Rudravaram mandal in Kurnool district on Wednesday. Stationery distributed among poor students

Adilabad district CPI secretary expelled

HYDERABAD: CPI State secretary K. Narayana on Wednesday expelled the party's Adilabad district secretary P. Bhamadas for violating discipline by showing inclination to secure a post of power. He said in a press release that Mr. Bhamadas had violated party discipline by persuading his wife to be in the fray for the post of Ramakrishnapuram sarpanch. She had already lost the Mandamarri ZPTC elections. Mr. Narayana called upon the party cadre to snap ties with Bhamadas and strive for offering better services.

Huzurnagar MPP for Telugu Desam

NALGONDA: Telugu Desam has won the mandal praja parishad chief post of Huzurnagar, where the elections were postponed twice amid high drama.

Of 16 MPTC members, A. Laxmamma of Amaravaram-1 could garner the support of ten members (TD-6, CPI (M)-3 and Independent-1). Veeraswamy of the CPI (M) won the vice-president post with the support of the TD. CPI won two and Congress won four seats in Huzurnagar mandal.

Company gesture to oustees

THELKULI: Vice-President of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited Arun Jalali distributed patta land to 139 project-displaced families at a function here on Tuesday.

The company was able to prepare 100 per cent pattas in record time and hand it over to displaced families.
