Telgi ill, recording of statement adjourned

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The recording of the confessional statement of Abdul Kareem Telgi, the prime accused in the multi-crore stamp paper racket, was adjourned till July 28 following hospitalisation of Telgi.

Appearing before the 4th Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate, who held the proceedings in the absence of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, the Superintendent of Pune's Yerwada Central Prison said that Telgi complained of chest pain on Tuesday and was therefore admitted to a private hospital.

The jail superintendent sought further time to produce Telgi before the court.

The magistrate accepted his submission and adjourned the matter.

This is the fifth time that the recording of the statement has been adjourned, twice of which was on health grounds.
