PATHANAMTHITTA: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has opened the shutters of the Moozhiyar dam of the Kakkad hydro-electric project for the third time in the past three days on Tuesday night owing to heavy inflow from the catchment areas. KSEB sources in Moozhiyar said the forest areas had been witnessing heavy rain for the last five days. The dam shutters remained open from 9 p.m. on Monday to 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Three shutters were opened again at 10.30 p.m. later on Tuesday when the water level in the reservoir crossed the danger mark of 192.5 metres, which is 0.22 metres short of reaching the full reservoir level, according to KSEB sources.
