PATHANAMTHITTA: Youth Congress (YC) State president K.P. Anilkumar has alleged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule in the State has led to anarchy on all fronts. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Anilkumar alleged that custodial deaths and police excesses had become the hallmark of the LDF rule. "The police machinery that was supposed to protect the life and property of the people has become a threat to them. Illicit liquor mafia groups are at large and the ruling Communist Party of India(Marxist) has allegedly been abetting the illicit spirit flow in different parts of the State," the YC leader said. Mr. Anilkumar alleged that even Excise officials on duty were not being spared by the goons of the spirit mafia and burglary had become the order of the day. "The LDF that was voted to power to rule the State for the next 60 months has proved itself a misfit with its misrule during the first 60 days. The LDF rule in the remaining 58 months is going to be nightmarish to the peace-loving people of Kerala," he said. Mr. Anilkumar also alleged that the State police had become more or less a defunct machinery under the LDF rule. He said the Government had enacted the professional colleges law in haste, making it an eyewash. The Act was drafted in such a way that it would not stand scrutiny before the court of law, he said. Mr. Anilkumar said the YC would stage a march in all taluk headquarters in the State demanding a probe into the multi-crore corruption in the Maitri Housing Scheme. It would also organise Quit India Day rally at all district headquarters on August 9, he added. YC district president A. Sureshkumar was present.
