ADILABAD: Five unidentified persons looted a petrol bunk near the Bhoraj integrated check post, 6 km from here on the National Highway 7 on Tuesday night. They decamped with Rs. 4 lakhs cash. Police swung into immediate action and detained five persons at the inter-state border with Maharashtra at Penganga for questioning. According to eyewitness account, the armed gangsters walked into the outlet at around 9.30 p.m. while the day's collections were being counted. They fired three rounds with a country-made gun to scare those in the premises. They later entered the cabin where the cash was being counted and fired another round before locking the employees in a room and escaping. Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) K. Madhav Rao, SP (Administration) Taranath, Rural Circle Inspector Mashooque Ali conducted investigations. As the miscreants were said to have moved towards the Maharashtra border about 13 km away, the police closed all exit points immediately. Finger prints were lifted from the spot.
