KOTTAYAM: Cyriac Thomas, former Vice-Chancellor, M.G. University, has called for a truce between the State Government and the managements of self- financing professional colleges in the interests of the future of students.
`Take initiative'
He said the State Government should take the initiative to evolve a consensus outside court through dialogues among all the stake-holders. The High Court has neither interpreted the law nor invalidated it, Dr. Thomas said. The court has not expressed any opinion on the minority status of institutions. He said the need of the hour was to take steps to complete the admission process to all professional institutions, including the self-financing colleges. Dr. Thomas appealed to the private managements to cooperate with the Government in finding a consensus on the vexed issue.
