Milk producers to get loan for purchase of milch animals

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation has implemented a White Card Scheme under which Rs. 1 lakh would be given as loan to milk producers of the milk cooperative societies for the purchase of milch animals, according to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Presiding over a meeting here, Mr. Hooda said that the Federation had arranged a loan of Rs. 20 crores so far through banks under this scheme.

He further said that this loan was available at a rate of 8 per cent interest to the loanee under the White Card Scheme without any collateral security.

He disclosed that the average milk production was 4.02 lakh litres per day in the State and efforts were on to increase it up to five lakh litres per day. The expansion of Milk Plant, Rohtak was being made at a cost of Rs. 5 crores.

He added that efforts should be made to make Vita milk more popular in other states also on the pattern of Verka. Special efforts should be made to sell Vita in the National Capital and the Mumbai market should be tapped for the sale of Vita ghee and other items.
