Course on `remedial teaching' offered
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
Sankalp - The Open School, Anna Nagar, is offering a one-month course on `Remedial Teaching' from July 31 to equip youngsters to teach children with learning disabilities.
The idea is to provide support to school-going children who experience difficulties in reading, writing and arithmetic.
The intensity of the problem can be appreciated when we analyse the figures which state that almost 10 per cent of school-going children suffers from learning disabilities to some degree. The increasing number of these students means that more trained and specialised teachers are required to tackle the issues.
The course would help participants understand the development of learning skills in children, their learning challenges and its causes, and the key elements in a remedial programme.
It also helps an individual become familiar with techniques that enhance the students' ability to read, write, speak, comprehend and think.
Graduates or postgraduates in any discipline with a good command over English, and communications skills, and who enjoy working with children can apply. Details, contact Lakshmi Krishnakumar at 9444016157 or 044 - 42732947 or Rohini Ravindran at 9840980070.
