Pawar re-elected NCP president

NEW DELHI:
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has been unanimously re-elected national president of the Nationalist Congress Party.
Eleven sets of applications nominating him were received from various States by the central election authority on July 17, last day for close of the exercise.
No other name was proposed for the post, authority chairman T.P. Peethambaran Master said here on Wednesday.
Membership campaign
He said the membership campaign for 2006-08 was completed by March and the process of organisational elections, which began on June 16, was completed up to the State level by July 16.
Election of members to the national committee was also completed.
The working committee members would be elected on September 17, concluding day of the two-day national convention being held at Dehra Dun.
