Coimbatore
Not safe Coimbatore-Mettupalayam-Ooty road has never been safe owing to many factors. The textile department should see to it that the road that connects the textile city and the Queen of Hill Stations is maintained properly. K. Magesh Kumar, Coimbatore. No bus service Bus numbers 71, 12-B, 93, 13-C, S4, 49 are not operated for lack of staff in the Coimbatore town service depots TS-1 and TS-2. I understand that there is shortage of drivers and conductors and I request TNSTC authorities to appoint staff and operate the above buses. K. Balaraman, K.K. Pudur. Not enough space The flight of steps leading to the three platforms in the Coimbatore Railway Junction are inadequate given the increasing number of passengers. The city is growing by leaps and bounds and consequently the passenger crowd is increasing. In view of this, the steps leading to the platforms are not enough to accommodate the incoming and outgoing passengers. When more than one train arrive at the platform, passengers find it difficult to get out and this results in long waiting. The railway administration should initiate action to ensure free flow of passengers up and down. A. Ranganathan, Coimbatore. BSNL bill I have been a BSNL subscriber for more than three decades and for the first time I received a bill for Rs. 8,300 last month. This is bi-monthly billing (April-May), including service tax. There is no internet connection to this line, and we mostly use only cell phone. Despite an employee of a private telephone franchisee, I continued to retain BSNL line owing to my faith and confidence in BSNL systems. On going through the statement of calls made, I noticed a lot of numbers were not connected to us in any way, and all such numbers were marked and highlighted in my written complaint. Some calls were made during midnight, which has never been a practice in our house. For the past two months, there were cross talks and this problem was also reported. I met the Telecom Officer in person and handed over the complaint. The officer gave me a patient hearing and suggested dynamic locking etc. The response was quick and on the same afternoon a team with the officer visited the spot to study the problem. I feel skimming on the surface would not be sufficient. Such complaints are increasing. BSNL should launch a thorough investigation and give a detailed report to the complainants rather relying on computer's correctness. N. Krishnan, Trichy Road.
