Thiruvananthapuram: Inspired by the success of the 24-hour pre-paid auto service operating from the Central railway station at Thampanoor, the second pre-paid auto service in the capital will commence from Medical College next month. The service will commence before Onam. A decision to this effect was taken at the Traffic Advisory Committee meeting held in the capital on Tuesday. The building for housing the pre-paid counter has already been completed on the road from Medical College junction to Chalakuzhy. Steps are being taken to get electricity and water connection and purchase computers for the counter. The Thiruvananthapuram Society Traffic Improvement Passengers Welfare Society has been registered to ensure the smooth functioning of the pre-paid counter. The pre-paid counter at the Medical College would be manned by traffic wardens. Pre-paid auto service would be available round the clock to the city and rural limits. A service charge of 50 paise would be collected from commuters using the service.
