BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials have arrested six persons who were allegedly creating fake caste and income certificates and supplied them to the public after taking hefty amounts. The accused were arrested from the premises of Bangalore North and South taluk tahsildars' offices in Ulsoor Gate police station limits. The accused used to approach people who came to the tahsildar offices for caste and income certificates and promised to get them the required certificates within hours, the police said. The accused filled the particulars of the applicants in documents and issued them certificates after forging the signature of the tahsildar, the police said. The accused, who had been in the illegal business for years, ensured that even those from forward castes got a certificate that they belonged to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or other backward castes (OBC), the police said. The names of the arrested were given as Rajesh (27), B.M. Srinivas (30), Raju (46), Lokesh (26), Shekar (28) and Sreenivas (26).
