The computer-generated portrait of autorickshaw driver who allegedly attempted to rape an Australian woman.
BANGALORE: The Bangalore district police on Wednesday released a computer-generated portrait of the autorickshaw driver who attempted to rape an Australian woman in Chikkajala police station limits on Saturday morning. On the basis of the information given by Sarah Paular (21), an Australian who is here on a six-week assignment to deliver lectures, the police have prepared the portrait.
Appeal to the public
The police have sought help from the public to establish trace the accused. Ms. Paular was part of a 20-member team from Australia. While her teammates were in Chennai, she had come to Bangalore. On Saturday morning she boarded an autorickshaw in Cooks Town to go to Kempe Gowda Bus Station because she wanted to join her teammates in Chennai. But the driver took her to Devanahalli Road. He stopped vehicle at a secluded place near Bellalli Cross. He snatched Ms. Paular's bag containing Rs. 3,000 in cash and an expensive camera. Later, he tore her clothes and assaulted her, the police said. She resisted his attempts, raised an alarm and started running for cover. On hearing her screams, the villagers came to her rescue. On seeing the public, the driver sped in the autorickshaw, the police said.
