BANGALORE: Commissioner of Police Neelam Achut Rao on Wednesday asked the representatives of private companies, commercial and entertainment complexes, to give maximum importance to parking places, which were often ideal places for keeping bombs. Mr. Rao said this at a meeting with traders and representatives of business establishments, information technology and biotechnology firms, malls, theatres, amusement parks, educational institutions and places of worship. The meeting was arranged to sensitise the establishments about the measures that need to be taken in view of recent explosions in Mumbai. The Commissioner asked the establishments to monitor the parking places. The security personnel placed there should carry out under carriage checking and physical checking, apart from keeping a tab on vehicles parked for a longer time. He stressed on the need for employees to be alert whenever they noticed unclaimed luggage and suspicious persons. Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner K. Jairaj was present. The city police stressed upon the need to use manpower and sophisticated motion detection cameras provided for perimeter security. Security personnel need to check baggage of all the employees and they need to frisk every person coming into the premises. There should be constant patrolling inside the premises with the aid of surveillance cameras. Proper lighting with generator backup had to be provided everywhere. The managements should check the character and antecedents of employees. The movements of sacked employees should be watched. While employing foreign nationals, the managements should ensure that the candidates had police clearance. A list of telephone numbers of police, fire force, ambulances and hospitals should be maintained.
