KOCHI: The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) will conduct an inquiry into the absence of nearly 1,500 autorickshaws that were required to appear for inspection of permits. District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said the permits would be distributed again only after the RTO conducted the inquiry. Nearly 1,500 autorickshaws that were asked to appear at the RTO office for inspection of permits to operate in the city had failed to turn up. Mr. Hanish said the time for submitting the final report on the inquiry into misuse of bus permits given to the members of the SC/ST sections had been extended. The next meeting of the Regional Transport Authority will discuss the issue.
