Mani Shankar Aiyar arrives on visit

KOCHI: Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar arrived at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Wednesday night on a four-day visit to the State. The Minister left for Thanneermukkam, where he will attend a presentation on the rural business hub of Mararikulam by Minister for Finance T.M. Thomas Issac on Thursday. Mr. Aiyar will then visit Kanjikuzhi village. He will also visit micro-enterprises on the panchayat campus at Kalathiveedu. He will inaugurate a common facility centre for mushroom/vermin compost at Mararikulam South grama panchayat at 11 a.m. — Staff Reporter

Malaysian team visits Cusat

KOCHI: A high-level team from Malaysia visited the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) on Wednesday to explore greater cooperation in the field of higher education. Senior officials of the Higher Education Department and university representatives from Malaysia interacted with the Cusat authorities. A press release issued by the university said the Malaysian team expressed interest in initiating student and teacher exchange programmes with Cusat. — Staff Reporter

YC to take out march to taluk office

KOCHI: The Youth Congress (YC) will take out a taluk office march on Thursday demanding the resignation of Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Maitri housing scheme. Protests will also be held in front of other taluks in Ernakulam district. — Staff Reporter
