Government staff court arrest

Special Correspondent

PONDICHERRY: The police have arrested 115 storekeepers when they took out a procession to the Secretariat here on Thursday to urge the Government to settle their demands. They demanded filling up of all vacant posts in departments and wanted it to introduce the Assured Career Progression scheme to benefit the senior staff. They also sought upward revision of their pay.

Among those held was general secretary of the Confederation of Associations of Government Employees R. Anandarasan.

Another batch, led by the confederation president C.H. Balamohanan, was also held.
