NEW DELHI: An alleged criminal wanted in several cases of murder, dacoity and robbery has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police. The police claim to have recovered three country-made revolvers and nine live cartridges from his possession. According to the police, the accused, Kasim Mullah, was arrested at Gokulpuri in North-East Delhi on Wednesday. Two of his accomplices managed to escape. The police said Kasim Mullah, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, and his gang were involved in at least half-a-dozen cases of murder, robbery and dacoity. In March, they had robbed around Rs. 1 lakh from one Aas Mohammad in Dilshad Garden. At Khajuri Khas, they robbed a shopkeeper of Rs. 18,000 in the same month. In yet another case, they had robbed one Dinesh Kumar of Rs. 80,000 in Bhajanpura. In April, Kasim's gang robbed Sudhir Kumar Gupta of Rs. 30,000 and other articles at his Karawal Nagar shop. In May, the gang robbed a person of Rs. 2,000. Last month, they had opened fire at Harun suspecting him to be a police informer. One of Kasim's accomplices, Mohammad Shahid, was arrested in this case. Back in January, the gang had robbed a jeweller of Seelampur of more than Rs. 1.7 lakhs and a licensed revolver. Efforts are now on to trace other accomplices of Kasim, Ahsan and Mohammad Khalid.
