Programme on cotton

COIMBATORE: The Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT) will conduct a programme at Therkathikadu, Salem District, on July 22 to demonstrate clean cotton picking, storage and transportation. According to a release, the institute conducted awareness programmes for farmers on cotton picking to eliminate leaf bits, unopened bits, unopened boll and stems and bring down the trash in cotton to one per cent. This will help the farmers get better price for their produce. The demonstration in Salem District will be inaugurated by K. M. Parlikar, Principal Scientist and Head, Technology Transfer Division, and R. P. Nachane, Principal Scientist, of CIRCOT.
