CHENNAI: A range of products from Thailand, including auto parts and accessories, electrical appliances, households items and kitchenware, will be on display at the "Thailand Exhibition 2006" that gets underway at the Chennai Trade Centre on Friday. The three-day event organised by the Department of Export Promotion of the Thailand Ministry of Commerce will have two components to it a business-to-business session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and thereafter, up to 6.30 p.m., the exhibition would be open to the public. Entry is free of cost. Noting that the exhibition comes to Chennai for the fifth consecutive year, Deputy Consul-General (Commercial) at the Royal Thai Consulate Prakob Panjacharoensiri said that for the first time "we are holding the B2B meeting." The objective is to provide a platform for interaction between the Thailand entrepreneurs and importers in India. Fifty leading Thai companies would be participating in the exhibition. Construction materials, hardware and machinery, gift and decorative products, health and beauty products, leather products and footwear, stationery will be on display. The B2B meetings include those with representatives of C.I. Group Company that manufacturers air-conditioner coils, Siam Kubota Industry engaged in the business of diesel generators, power tillers and other agricultural equipment, Kita Part Industries that manufactures auto parts. Addressing a curtain raiser press meet here on Wednesday, Mr. Panjacharoensiri expressed confidence about the exhibition creating greater awareness about Thai products in India and opening up new business opportunities. Electricity and Rural Industries Minister Arcot N. Veerasamy is scheduled to inaugurate the exhibition.
