BIDAR: Humnabad bandh called by the Congress leaders demanding the transfer of a police inspector on Thursday was peaceful but for an incident where protesters stoned a bus that arrived from Belkera into the Humnabad bus stand. Protestors led by former MLA Rajshekar Patil walked in a procession to the tahsildar's office. They alleged that the inspector had forced his subordinates not to register a case against a contractor who had allegedly tried to kill another contractor on Tuesday night. They shouted slogans against the police officer. They demanded that Superintendent of Police Roopa Divakar take action against the inspector. They submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar before dispersing. Sharanappa Patil, nephew of former minister and Humnabad Congress leader Basavaraj Patil had filed a complaint to the police that M. Yusuf, son of JD (S) leader and taluk panchayat president Noor Jan Bi had threatened to kill him.
