GK Motors in semifinals

MADURAI: GK Motors Hockey Club, Madurai stormed into the semifinals of the State-level hockey tournament for the Rajamani Kanagamaniammal memorial trophy, upsetting Indian Bank, Chennai, 3-2 here on Thursday.

Indian Bank went into the lead in the ninth minute with a penalty corner conversion by Alfred.

In the next minute, A.G. Kannan sounded the board at the other end. Gopi scored from close range to put Indian Bank in the lead again. However, Ramdoss connected a free hit for the equaliser in the 42nd minute and Kannan scored the winner in the 64th minute.

In another match, Food Corporation of India prevailed over Thirunagar Hockey Club, Madurai, 3-2 to make it to the last-four grade.

Muthukumar, Bhaskar and Prabhakar scored for FCI, while for Thirunagar, Ponraj and Rajesh Kannan scored.
