Felix Scholarships announced

NEW DELHI: The Felix Scholarships for 2006, awarded to Indian students for higher studies abroad, have been announced.

According to Felix Scholarships Committee Secretary Ranjeet Bhatia of St. Stephen's College, the winners are: Arun Kumar Pandian, Gurjot Deepika, Vijay Kanawade, Puja Basu, Rebecca Sundharam, Anant Nautiyal, Dhivya Janarthanan, T.K.Naveen, Surabhi Sarkar, Moin Ahmed Nizami, Lovleen Bhullar, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajeshwari Shah, Deepti Sachdev, Nallini Puri, Balaji Subramanian and Shweta Pandit.

Business school goes digital

NEW DELHI: EMPI Business School has taken a major step towards automation and campus-wide networking of its digital resources. Indian Library Association president Muttayya Koganuramath inaugurated the school's computerised library here this past weekend.

The library will provide self-operating systems to students, faculty and corporate managers in search of books, journals, research articles and non-book material in compact discs, digital videodiscs and videocassettes.

Robotic surgery at AIIMS

NEW DELHI: The Department of Urology at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here has acquired a state-of-the-art robotic surgical system, said to be the first such system in Asia.

On Wednesday, Professor of Urology Ashok K. Hemal performed the first robotic surgery in Asia with this system on a patient suffering from prostrate cancer. The robot allows extreme surgical precision, minimising post-operative pain and complications.

Transit camp for pilgrims

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has organised a transit camp at Burari Grounds for pilgrims of the annual "Urs of Ajmer''. The camp is open up to August 11.

Delhi Transport Corporation has made special arrangements at Burari Grounds for the pilgrims. DTC shuttle services between Old Delhi railway station, Jama Masjid and Burari Grounds have been provided at a flat fare of Rs. 10 per passenger. Also, local sightseeing tours have been arranged for the pilgrims at a flat fare of Rs.100 per passenger.

"Himalayan Safari"

NEW DELHI: Fifteen naval officers, including two women, will embark on a ``Surf to snow - Himalayan Safari'' adventure this Saturday which willculminate at the famous Pangong Lake on the Chinese Border in Ladakh.
