NEW DELHI: The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences' Faculty Association president, A.B. Dey, resigned from his post on Thursday. In his letter to FAIMS secretary, Dr. Dey wrote: "Taking full responsibility for the recent developments involving the Faculty Association, I resign from the post of president. I wish all the best to the executive and the general body in this moment of crisis. I apologise to all members who I may have been hurt by any of my acts of omission or commission since I took over in May 2003.'' "The Institute, known the world over for its excellence in academics and research, has taken a beating after the series of protests witnessed over the past few months. This condition is unacceptable," said Dr. Dey. The general body has accepted the resignation of Dr. Dey and asked the executive to continue and Dr. B.K. Khaitan to take over as president of the Faculty Association.
