Lal Bahadur Shastri award for Naresh Trehan

Dr. Naresh Trehan

NEW DELHI: Eminent cardiovascular surgeon Naresh Trehan, Executive Director of Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre here, has been chosen for the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences for the year 2005.

The award will be presented by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at a ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in October, according to the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Anil Shastri. The award is conferred every year on an individual residing in India or abroad who is an exceptionally outstanding and distinguished business leader, management practitioner, educationist or institution builder. It carries a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation and a plaque. Dr. Trehan has been selected for his pioneering work in the field of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
