Pay cut for 30 employees of Vani Vilas hospital

  • Superintendent of Hospital too loses a day's salary
  • 15 paramedical staff were found absent

    BANGALORE: A day's salary was cut for 30 employees of the Vani Vilas Hospital, including its Medical Superintendent M.L. Siddaraju.

    Medical Education Secretary M.N. Vidyashankar after a surprise check on the hospital on Thursday.

    He found that some staff members came late to work or had absented themselves for the day without applying for leave.

    Mr. Vidyashankar n secretary found that Dr. Siddaraju had not reported to work even at 10.30 a.m. in spite of an appointment given to a patient at 9.30 a.m., said a senior official, who wished to remain anonymous. The hospital superintendent was on leave on Wednesday.

    The official said absenteeism was rampant among the paramedical staff. Fifteen of them had not turned up for work. A small number of nurses and doctors had stayed away from work without applying for leave.
