Accused in acid attack escapes

BANGALORE: An HAL employee, who allegedly threw acid on his woman colleague, in Girinagar here, on Wednesday morning, has escaped from the police custody.

Nagaraj, 35, from Rangenahalli in Tarikere taluk of Chikmagalur district, allegedly poured acid on Savitha, 23, after she refused to marry him.

Complaint

On a complaint from Savitha, whose right arm was burned by the acid, the police arrested Nagaraj.

On Wednesday evening, when the police took Nagaraj to B.V.K. Iyengar Road to make inquiries at a shop from where he said he had purchased the acid, he managed to give them the slip, the police said.

Girinagar Inspector Ramachandrappa has lodged a compliant with the Chickpet police in this regard.

The Girinagar and Chickpet police are on the lookout for Nagaraj.
