`Justice denied to violence victims'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Dionne Bunsha, journalist and author, spoke to students and members of the faculty of the National Law School of India University here on Thursday on her exploration of the manner in which justice was denied to the victims of the Gujarat violence.

Ms. Bunsha, special correspondent, Frontline, said her aim was to challenge the manner in which words such as riot and terrorists are used.

"The Gujarat violence was not a riot. It was not a confrontation between two communities. It was a case of one organisation against a community," she said.

She was in the city to promote her book "Scarred — Experiments with Violence in Gujarat"
