This Day That Age
The Speaker, Mr. M. Ananthasayanam Ayyangar, pulled up Mr. O.V. Alagesan, Deputy Minister for Railways, in the Lok Sabha on July 21 and observed that Ministers should be fully equipped with all matters concerning their Ministry while coming to Parliament to answer questions. Mrs. Renu Chakravarthy (Communist-West Bengal) had put a supplementary to know when the report about the findings of various MPs who visited the railway accident area at Kharagpur was submitted to the Railway Minister, and whether the Government contemplated an enquiry in view of the many new things brought about in that report. Mr. Alagesan said he was not aware of such a report at all. The Speaker intervened and remarked that either the other Minister concerned should also be present in the House or the Minister answering the question should be fully conversant with matters concerning his Ministry.
